The Flying Dutchman

An intense yet amazing hat-trick and an appallingly botched penalty; quite an afternoon's work for the newly turned 29 year old "Flying Dutchman", Robin van Persie, who has four goals in three games (two starts) for United. A man of such deadly power and accuracy, why would he even think about taking a spot-kick (during penalty) with such nonchalance? Over-confidence perhaps?

Frustrated: Van Persie reacts to his poor and cocky penalty

In the 67th minutes, when United finally had the chance to equalizes back again, Van Persie tried to be too clever (over-conficence the way I look at it) with a chipped kick from the spot and the Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis saved it. Lucky for him, Van Persie who had scored United's first equalizer in the 23rd minute, converted from close range on 88 minutes thanks to Ferdinand's header that hit the post (thank God), and before he headed the winner in the second minute of injury time via Nani's awesome-amazing corner kick!

Van Persie celebrates his first hat-trick for the United

A tense game for us United fans, but thanks to this deadly "Flying Dutchman", we've won the game! Van Persie's hat-trick took him to his 100th Premier League goals as Sir Alex Ferguson reached his 1000th league games on his managerial watch at United. Proud to be a Man United fan! Glory Glory Man United!
