Is this the end?

Throughout this whole course or subject, I learned so many new and different things. Whether it is something about my studies or life in general, it still remains inconclusive. But for what I know, it is something I experienced in the class that can definitely remain as a memory to remember. The activities we did. The group work and many more can only be treasured when I looked back, because it is now, nothing more, but a distant memory.

To end my post for this term, I would love to bid farewell to all my readers but not without thanking my beloved lecturer, Madam Baiti, who has taught me and the class the value of life without us really noticing it. Madam, you deserve a special thanks from me. To end this, I would like to insert a poem by Queen Lydia Kamakaeha Lili'uokalani:

Farewell to thee, farewell to thee
Thou charming one who dwells in shaded bowers
One fond embrace ere I depart
Until we meet again

Is K-Pop a global issue?

K-Pop? What exactly is K-Pop? Well, I know one thing, it's a pain in the *** the way I see it. Fans would queue for so many hours to see their idols, while the hardcore ones would simply "overnight" in front of the ticket booth. Majority would spent most of their days in front of the laptop or television to ogle these so called "hot" Koreans. Not just K-Pop, but Koreans are the issue here. From their songs, looks and acting, people are slowly become obsessed, forget about to actually enjoy themselves.

The obsession didn't just stop there. A couple of cases where fans actually killed themselves when the K-Pop artist committed suicide when they're too stress perhaps. How can someone from just any Korean band have effect on the society nowadays? It is not just about suicide. Some would gladly do anything for them. Try and ask them to lay on the street for the artist to walk on them like a red carpet? I would bet a 100 bucks that they're willing to do that...

How did K-Pop sensation effects the male in general? I would say, the hairstyles, the way they dresses, the way they speak among their peers and of course some just simply became more "gay" or I love to use the term "jambu air" to describe these males that are so trying hard to look like these K-Pop artists.

So the question remains, will this issue will ever be resolves? With all these hardcore fans still in the K-Pop world of "fantasy", hardly in the real world, will this ever remain as a global issue? Only time will tell.

Dumb Ways to Die

Dumb Ways to Die... I think it's a wonderful video. It creates awareness, which is good, but not all people will think that way.. Perhaps, it's because of the title. So people will quickly judge about the video, thinking that "oh, that's just lame to produce that kinda song", so the title is off somehow.

But in my opinion, the animated video was the perfect choice to make it "less violence" and despite the title, it has many meanings to it. True that the title makes it sound that the song or video an R-rated but with the help of some cartoon and a relatable cheery song it makes it enjoyable experience to watch. If you ask me, the actual meaning of the song is more on telling us that why would you want to die in the dumbest way possible when there are a much easier ways to die. What I'm trying to explain is, the video/song is trying to convey us a message on live our life to the fullest; that's where the cartoon came in. Life is colourful. Why die, when you have a life to live? That's why they purposely named the title "Dumbest Ways to Die." At least that's what I think.

And if I were given a chance to rename the song, I wouldn't. I would stick to the original title since it brings a lot of deeper meaning. It makes people think. And the cons of this video, well, maybe it's too cheery. So, in the end the message is more for the children instead of the adults since I myself find the video an amusement, then what will rest of the adults think? So yeah. That's my opinion. Cheers!

Test? Testing testing... 1, 2, 3...

How do students feel about test? Or something simpler, like pop quiz perhaps? Some would be gleeful about it since when you said test, there won't be a class or lesson... Well, usually... So, in short, test is stress! Only if you don't study. Whether it is a stress or not, it depends on each individual. For me, well personally I don't hate test that much. It tests my knowledge and memory. So I'm fine with test.

And for this class, we had our first very english test. Midterm test to be exact. I was okay. Prepared for it. But what I wasn't prepared was, the question that they gonna ask. And who would believe that they asked about that blundering Justin Bieber? EWWW!!! DISGUSTING! Blurgh!! Why must it be on him? Went I looked at the question, I quickly answered, never want to read anything about that "gay" boy!

But the rest of the questions was okay. Again, graph was there, but I don't expect anything less than that. It was a really nice test to say the least, well minus BIEBER! Anyways, cheers!

Another reason to hate math: Graph!

One thing about me: I hate Maths and will forever hate it! But this graph in this english was lucky not to be "burned" by me. It was part of english, so I let it go. Well, barely. This time around, we don't learn just about graph. We learn how to obtain information from the graphs. Well, something like that. So, here we are, doing a module "assignment' of some sort for the day. You know, analyse the chart and the graph and produce a report based on it (I like to think that way).

Based on the module given, tips have been given on how to actually tackle the question. Yes, tackling. A step-by-step guide was also given on describing the chart movements and what not. Not to mention, useful phrases to describe chart movements; something like increased, went up, boomed, bla bla bla. They even have on describing the degree and speed of change! So to say the least, these so called tips saved the paper from getting "burned" by me because it is never about the numbers, it's about the report and the situation as whole. The graph is just a mere illustration to make things clearer and more interesting so that we won't fall asleep just by reading the question. Cheers!

PR: A lot less drama?

Does anyone really knows what PR does actually in their daily life? Well, besides helping artists and their dramas... Anyone really? Well of what I know, Public Relations (PR) is the practice of managing the flow of information between an individual or organization and the public. Well, if you guess this right, then a round of applause!

Now, the class start of by having a play/drama. We chose PR because it was really easy since PR is a lot of "a drama kinda job," so it was quite easy to think about the script while put everything into play. Nana was the main character (the artist), Faza is her manager/publicist who works as Nana's well, practically everything: from the manager to her publicist to her PA and to her servant at some point perhaps? Anyways, Min was the reporter/journalist, the so called "Mak Joyah" of the play, you know "Inspector 5 Star Kepoci" and I'm the TV host, also a "kepoci".

Basically, the message that we are trying to convey in the act is that when you work as a PR, you tend to "lie" to some certain extent to clear up people's name. That's part of the job. But lying is not really the word. It's more of manipulating, tricking the public about their clients. Tell the public good things about their clients to clear up their names and so on. So there you have it. just a stint on what PR does for a living especially the ones that are working for the artist. Cheers!

Modals are essential?

Again. New activities. New everything? Okay. Perhaps so. What now? Modals. What are modals? Modals are special verbs which behave very irregularly in English language (I second that). How many types are there basically? Well, if it isn't lucky number 5! And what are there exactly? Oh, here they are:

  1. Certainty
  2. Probability
  3. Possibility
  4. Doubt
  5. Impossibility

The head doesn't look really appetizing doesn't it? Well, trust me. It is not. At first. But as the lesson progresses, it was a lot of fun. We did sorts of fun "activities" on modals like listening to "It Will Rain" by Bruno Mars and figure out some part of the lyrics with modals and later change the modals from the lyrics into something more interesting. Like changing the whole meaning of the song!

And then there would be this thingy where we have to use modals to describe about our future. Well, something like that. I can't really recall. But whatever it is, this modals can be pretty annoying since it can change the original meaning to a whole lot of another meaning if the modals were not use correctly!
But it is something to learn in the process. Cheers!

Tenses added more tense!

Tense? Or tenses? Well, if I were to say this myself, people would think I'm the weird one here. Tenses only add more tense to me! *lol* Tenses? What do we understand about tenses? I mean we learn tenses  since forever! Past tense, present tense, future tense and bla bla bla bla. Let me just give you the idea of tenses by uploading this diagram.

So this is just an example of tenses. Don't worry. More to come *evil laugh*. And it was this "dreadful" tenses that we have to learn in our class. And surprisingly, whatever I learned in school was totally different! And that intrigued me the most! So, I end up enjoying learning these tenses back again because of the differences in approach. Not to mention, it was fun! Learning something that so long "forgotten" was nerve-wrecking but I enjoyed till the very end! More tenses to come in my life!

Nevertheless, learning these tenses really reming me about the importance in it in English. Some of us just take these tenses lightly, but when I learned about it during the class, it's not something that we can ignore. It is essential. It is part of the grammar. It is a base of the English language, to define whether we are talking about the past, the present of even the future. So now, I appreciate the tenses better than I ever did.

Vanchester Roonited

Match day 2 for the Champions League on 3/10/12. This time around the United players flew to Romania for their next match against CFR Cluj. As usual, the match was boring until Cluj gave us a heart attack by scored their first goal! The goal was wonderful, I have to admit... But I was pretty pissed! I mean, not again... United falling behind for the sixth time from all eight games if I'm not mistaken.

Also, as usual, who saved United from defeat if it's not the Master of Equalizer, Robin van Persie himself. This time around, Wayne Rooney assisted him. With Rooney's incredible free kick and RVP's header-shoulder, he equalizes, on the 29th minute to be exact. A really wonderful goal by RVP. It was lucky that the ball hit his shoulder. If not, it would go over and waste the only chance to score an equalizer for the team.

On the 49th minute, another goal by the same man. Assisted by the same man too! This time around, the goal was wonderful. Marvellous. It came off from the right side, with RVP flicked the ball using his ankle to score a brace. When I first saw the ball passed by Rooney I was about to cry since the passed was quite powerful, but as graceful as it is, RVP scored with pure professionalism in it.

RVP scored his brace with Rooney's assist

Both goals and assists coming from these two best strikers in the Premier League. A mouth-watering partnership for us fan to watch, and finally we got to see them play for the whole game. They were deadly with the ball. They control the game. They can turn the game. They are the deadliest duo now and we Manchester United have them both. With these two in United, to win the title back from the noisy neighbour, Man City, is not a big issue.

At the end of the day, it was these two strikers that save Manchester United from another defeat. They call them Van Rooney (combination of Van Persie and Rooney), but I call them Vanchester Roonited! Glory Glory Man United!!

Project Runway?

Project runway in our 3rd class? It sounds intriguing doesn't it? I mean who doesn't love project runway? So, as I was saying, we had a so-called "Project Runway" for our 3rd class. Designing some new uniforms for our school here in Malaysia. It was fun all the way. I mean the designing part was fun but not as fun when it comes to the presentation.

The presentation was out of the world. We get to see all the multiple types of "designers" clothes. And I mean all types of clothing. From some sort of a prom dress to casual to a very formal and all. So back to us. We named our group "Lanamifa-Gywa", a combination of our group members name. Marvellous name actually. So basically, the four of us did the thinking whilst Nana and Wawa did the designing and drawing. So we kinda drew-designed uniforms for both sexes. And it turned out to be very impressive if I do say so myself. Well, it's kinda hard to explain, so I just share with you guys the picture.

Nana and Wawa were the designers

In this so called project runway, our design is more of a formal-casual kinda thing. In short, we would prefer to call it simple and catchy yet casual at the same time. So with the drawing/design and all, we actually proved ourselves to be "invincible". I mean we got a freaking 9 over 10 (or was it 9.5 - can't recall). I mean WOW! It was awesome. Had tremendous fun. The class finally ended with yet another assignment *le sigh

The Wall of Restriction

2nd class... It was kinda off for me since I wasn't really into it because of the day before. Tired and all. But then something kinda cheered me up. A poem. A concrete poem to be exact... Yes concrete poem, entitled "The Wall". The poem was off to me. I mean, the only word was "The Wall" and I can't remember some of it. And when you try to read the poem, all the weird sound coming out. For instance, "Thewallaweyh". It sounds something like that.

But that wasn't the fun part. The so-called fun part was when we have to express our feelings about our restrictions in life. Just like the poem. I was so into that since I love expressing myself about something that I don't really agree with. So I was there explaining about my parents are mostly the ones retrict me of doing something. So yeah. The day end with us getting yet another assignment. *sigh

First Class Intrigues Us All?

The 3rd of September was officially our first proficiency in english class. I had fun to say the least. The feeling of another lesson that's quite laid-back, without any "trouble" whatsoever. A simple task was given. And that was to make a name-tag. Like seriously? I was like, we ain't in primary school. Duh. But I played along. Well whether I like it or not, I admit, it was kinda fun.

My so-called name-tag that doesn't look like one

So, what do we do or draw? Simple. We are to draw something that describes us. You know like a sun means you're happy or something like that. Well, apparently I drew a some sort of blank face with the word "huh", describing me as some sort of a blur person from time to time. Next to it was a speaker (doesn't look like one). Speaker? Well, a: I've a loud voice and b: I'm just that loud. Lastly, I drew a phone. This shows that my life is basically revolve with this technology; social media and what not. But by the end of the day, it's not about the drawing that matters. It's about the way we communicate and expressing ourselves. At least that's what I thin.

The Master of Late Goals

Another hectic match but at the same time a wonderful one indeed. Another 3 points to be added into the Man United bag. Nothing much to talk about since the first half was quite slow to say the least. Unless you're saying that Suarez's drama was interesting.

2nd half commenced and Liverpool got the lead, thanks to Steven Gerrard (curse you). But as usual, Man United equalizes. This time not by Robin van Persie, the master of equalizer, but Rafael da Silva was the one scored from a very tight position (not that tight- just love to exaggerate).

Rafael (left) celebrates his equalizer with fellow team-mate Van Persie

2nd half went quite well to say the least since Man United was getting their rhythm back again, and at the 81st minute we won a penalty! Thanks Valencia for giving us the chance! As I was saying, I was quite gutted when for the last 3 matches we have missed all 3 penalties given. So here I was, restless waiting (Van Persie must be more restless since he has to wait for 4 minutes to take the penalty- thanks to this player had to treat for injury).

And guess what? Robin van Persie finally scored the winning penalty! And I was like "FINALLY! WE'RE OUT FROM THE PENALTY CURSE!" And at long last, the game ended with a 1-2 win for us Man United. Glory Glory Man United!

Injury Strikes!

In the world of football, when you talk about injury, it's a common thing. I mean where's the fun in it if there're no injury in football? When a player is injured, you got to see another player substituting the best eleven for instance. But in this case, I was so gutted when I found out that Robin van Persie, one of Manchester United newest main striker was injured during the Holland vs Hungary FIFA World Cup Qualifier. What do you expect? He's prone to injury. That's the consequences we have to face when we bought him from Arsenal for £24 million.

Van Persie suffers a thigh injury during the
World Cup Qualifier against Hungary

Not to mention, Rooney is injured from his last match againt Fulham. Not to forget the newest attacking midfielder, Shinji Kagawa has some "back problem" or back injury during his training with Japan. Now, who do we have left? Danny Welbeck? I would say that I always put my faith on Chicharito but not Welbeck. He's kinda "off" sometimes. But whatever it is, as a fan, I would always put my faith in these players. We survived before the arrival of Robin van Persie and Kagawa, why can't we survive for our next match? In the end, it's all about the strategy of the game and the faith we put in our manager and the team. Glory Glory Man United!

The Flying Dutchman

An intense yet amazing hat-trick and an appallingly botched penalty; quite an afternoon's work for the newly turned 29 year old "Flying Dutchman", Robin van Persie, who has four goals in three games (two starts) for United. A man of such deadly power and accuracy, why would he even think about taking a spot-kick (during penalty) with such nonchalance? Over-confidence perhaps?

Frustrated: Van Persie reacts to his poor and cocky penalty

In the 67th minutes, when United finally had the chance to equalizes back again, Van Persie tried to be too clever (over-conficence the way I look at it) with a chipped kick from the spot and the Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis saved it. Lucky for him, Van Persie who had scored United's first equalizer in the 23rd minute, converted from close range on 88 minutes thanks to Ferdinand's header that hit the post (thank God), and before he headed the winner in the second minute of injury time via Nani's awesome-amazing corner kick!

Van Persie celebrates his first hat-trick for the United

A tense game for us United fans, but thanks to this deadly "Flying Dutchman", we've won the game! Van Persie's hat-trick took him to his 100th Premier League goals as Sir Alex Ferguson reached his 1000th league games on his managerial watch at United. Proud to be a Man United fan! Glory Glory Man United!
